Vic Stauffer has called more than 45,000 races at nearly a dozen racetracks across the country. He was the track announcer at Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort in Hot Springs, Arkansas from 2017 to 2023. Only the sixth track announcer in Oaklawn’s storied, 114-year history to do that.
Stauffer was the announcer at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, CA for 13 years and has also called races at Gulfstream Park, Hialeah, Hawthorne, Golden Gate Fields, and Detroit Race Course, among others. He began his announcing career in 1985 as the backup announcer at Garden State Park in New Jersey.
In addition to his announcing work, he has earned two Eclipse Awards for radio broadcasts.
Stauffer, 65, has announced hundreds of Grade 1 races, including a “Who’s Who” list of top horses, such as notable two-time Apple Blossom winner ZENYATTA, BARBARO, HAL’S HOPE, GAME ON DUDE, LAVA MAN, SHARED BELIEF, PIONEER OF THE NILE, LOOKIN AT LUCKY, AZERI, BLIND LUCK, THE TIN MAN and CALIFORNIA CHROME.
A veteran of over 40 years in the racing industry, he has held many jobs on the track, including Steward, Jockey's Agent, TV and Radio Host, and also plays the professional Horse Racing handicapping circuit with great success, winning several major national tournaments.
Stauffer and his wife Tina, currently live in Hot Springs, Arkansas
